The Undertaker: Vince McMahon Didn't Want Me To Say 'Retirement' At Survivor Series 2020

The Undertaker had his last match at WrestleMania 36 in the Boneyard match against AJ Styles. Due to the pandemic, the match was done in cinematic form, and Undertaker would announce his retirement later in the year.

A ceremony was held for Undertaker at Survivor Series 2020, which was dubbed the "Final Farewell."

Though he said he was done and wouldn't be returning to the ring, Vince McMahon never wanted him to use the word retirement.

"In November, that was one of those times where Vince and I butted heads. My retirement. He wouldn't let me say retirement. 'It's time for the Undertaker to rest in peace.' In full character. I have these guys, all in the ring, but I'm going to be in my full character. It was like, yuck.' It was a way, it was still during COVID, it was not good. I honestly don't think he was completely convinced at that point that I was done. I don't think anybody was, really. There are still people out there that think I have one more," said Undertaker on his Six Feet Under podcast.

Undertaker has stuck to his word of not returning for an official match since WrestleMania 36.

He has made guest appearances on WWE TV, including the October 10 episode of NXT.
