United Artists Lands The Rock & Benny Safdie’s ‘Lizard Music’ Film

The Rock and Benny Safdie are continuing their relationship.

On Thursday, October 16, Deadline issued some breaking news, revealing that Amazon MGM’s United Artists brand has picked up the package for Benny Safdie’s ‘Lizard Music’ film. The movie, which will be based off the novel of the same name, will star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as Chicken Man.

This will be the second collaboration between Safdie and The Rock following A24’s ‘The Smashing Machine’, which is currently playing in theaters. With his portrayal of Mark Kerr, Rock is gaining steam for a potential Academy Award nomination.

Rock worked with Amazon MGM on the 2024 Christmas film ‘Red One’, which also starred names like Chris Evans, JK Simmons, and Lucy Liu. That film, which was directed by Jake Kasdan, grossed $186M at the box office before debuting to huge numbers on Amazon Prime.

On the flip side, this will be Benny Safdie’s first time working with Amazon MGM or United Artists, as he has worked with A24 and other indie studios for the majority of his career.

Fightful will update fans as more information is shared about ‘Lizard Music’. In the meantime, check out Kurt Angle’s comments on ‘The Smashing Machine’ deserving an Oscar by clicking here.
