An update on the referee who was seemingly injured in the line of duty on the June 5, 2020 episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX.
Sonya Deville met Lacey Evans once again this week, but the original referee, Danilo Anfibio, would be injured, being replaced by Jessika Carr.
In regards to whether or not the injury is legitimate, it is not. As stated by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp on Twitter and during the post-show podcast for SmackDown, the injury was, in fact, a planned segment of the match as the match was pre-taped last week. It was a new tactic deployed as an attempt to keep fans intrigued going into a commercial break.
