Update On Wardlow In AEW
Wardlow was backstage at AEW recently, which isn’t much of a surprise.
Wardlow is from the Cleveland area, which he worked heavily before he was hired by AEW. As of now, he’s not been on TV for well over a year after an injury and a car accident kept him sidelined. We did confirm that he’s been cleared since earlier this year, and was able to return. However, he met with Tony Khan in the early part of the year, and Khan was fine with him working the upcoming American Gladiators series. They decided it wouldn’t make sense to bring him back before filming that, just to take him off TV again. Wardlow had been dealing with a shoulder injury that was compounded by the car accident.
Fightful Select can confirm that Wardlow has completed filming American Gladiators for the time being, and learned a little more. It was stated by people in the know that American Gladiators actually filmed two seasons worth of content. Those in AEW claim there have been discussions about how to bring Wardlow back, but we’ve not heard details on those discussions as of yet.
We had also reported that Wardlow was backstage a number of weeks ago at AEW All In Texas. He wasn’t at the show until it had already started, and wasn’t required to be there at call time with much of the talent on the show.
Wardlow last appeared on AEW TV at AEW Dynamite Big Business in March 2024, losing a world title match to Samoa Joe.
