Vince McMahon Pushing Back In Shareholder Lawsuit, Argues That Plaintiffs Are Overreaching & Trying To Get Into His Personal Life

An update on the shareholder lawsuit involving Vince McMahon.

There's a story up on the Wrestlenomics Patreon from Brandon Thurston which notes that former WWE CEO Vince McMahon is pushing back against having to turn over more documents in a shareholder lawsuit over the TKO merger. He's arguing that plaintiffs are overreaching and trying to get into his personal life.

As revealed in a filing with the Delaware Court of Chancery, McMahon's attorneys asked the court to deny the plaintiffs' motion for him to hand over more discovery. The plaintiffs, including a pension fund that owned WWE stock, argued that McMahon predetermined UFC's then-parent company Endeavor as a merger partner to protect his power at the expense of WWE shareholders. They also alleged that McMahon leaned in favor of a buyer who would put up with his sexual misconduct allegations

The lawsuit is against McMahon and then-WWE Board members. McMahon's lawyers responded to the claims by calling them "meritless" and added that he's already agreed to present all documents that connect the sexual misconduct allegations to the merger process.

McMahon is holding back on sharing what he described as "deeply personal and intimate communications" with women he had relations with and messages with family members about those relationships. The filing notes that McMahon's representation feels those specific materials are irrelevant to the case.

Vince's representation claims that the plaintiffs are using discovery as a means to harass and pressure him and his family. They add that it would be bringing a legal matter into this situation that has been addressed in a separate lawsuit, which was dismissed with prejudice before this suit was filed.

McMahon's attorneys wrote:

"If this Court grants Plaintiffs' Motion, this case will devolve into a mini-trial over the Sexual Misconduct Allegations."
