The Von Erichs Reveal Their MLW Contracts Are Set To Expire In June 2023

The Von Erichs (Marshall and Ross Von Erich) discuss their contract status with MLW.

Marshall and Ross signed with MLW in 2019. They went on to win the MLW World Tag Team Championship in November 2019. They took some time away from the ring, but they competed at multiple tapings for the company in 2022. The duo last wrestled for MLW at the Kings of Colosseum taping on May 13.

Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast, the brothers discussed their contract status. Marshall stated that their contracts are up in June 2023. He stated that, after that, they'll see what happens.

“We’ve been taking the last month to get back into shape, and we’re gonna pour our next five to seven years, maybe even longer, but we feel like it’s time. A lot of people don’t know, but I guess our time with MLW is almost up. I think June 1 is when our contracts are up, so we’re just gonna see what happens after that [and] play the field. Never say never, but we’re just gonna see what comes to us after this," Marshall said.

When asked if they’ll be at MLW Blood & Thunder in January, the brothers noted that they don't know yet. Ross stated that they're not 100% sure, while Marshall stated that they want to be part of it. He emphasized that MLW has done a lot for them, and they would like to keep doing shows for the company.

"MLW has done so much for us. I’ve said it before in interviews, but MLW came at like a crazy time. Court Bauer came when we were on the indy scene, mostly in Texas and doing some international stuff, Israel and Japan. They came in and let us see the east coast of the United States and get to wrestle in towns we never thought we’d wrestle in and couldn’t believe that we were even recognized in some of these towns. [They] definitely gave us a lot of TV experience. Being in Japan, there’s not much promo work that you get done. It’s mostly just professional wrestling, so MLW has been a huge blessing in that regard. We love the whole team, we love all the guys up there, made some brothers. So who knows? Hopefully we’ll keep doing MLW shows after the contracts are up, but we’ll see. I say we’re in a good relationship with Court and everybody up there. We’ve taken some time off for the house, and Court respected that, so yeah, that’s where we’re at right now," Marshall said.

As for the future, Marshall stated that they're open to anything, and they're not ruling anything out. He also teased that they've been talking to some promoters, and they're looking forward to getting back out there.

“We’re gonna see how the cards unfold. Now we’re definitely open to anything. Open to staying with MLW, open to AEW, WWE, any promotion that will offer us. Maybe go back to Japan. We’re open to anything. I’m not gonna say absolutely not to anything. But right now, we’re getting some dates nailed down. I can’t confirm anything yet because I’m still talking to promoters and working out flights and stuff. But [we] wanna come back to the states and want to try to land everywhere or do some shows everywhere, just to get our name back out there and let people know we’re still doing our thing," he said.

Ross chimed in by explaining that they'd like to show some love to the fans, especially because they might not be able to do independent shows anymore if they signed a full-time contract somewhere. With that in mind, the brothers would want to get that out of their system.

"Maybe show some love back to everybody that showed us love. If we do hypothetically sign some contract and we’re not able to do these things, we’re always gonna have such good memories of the indy scene, so we just want to really get that out of our system, I guess," Ross said.

The Von Erichs last wrestled at Ric Flair's Last Match in July. As of this writing, it's unclear when they will return to the ring.
