Wade Barrett Compares Sheamus To Benjamin Button, Teases A Return For Himself

Wade Barrett says he still has a little bit left in the tank and praises Sheamus for his consistency.

During the second night of WrestleMania 37, Sheamus will challenge Riddle for the WWE United States Championship. Sheamus has been a staple of WWE for over a decade and for Wade Barrett, one of the individuals who was signed alongside Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, couldn't be happier to see Sheamus still thriving at a high level and even joked about the fact that Sheamus is older than him and still going.

Talking with his NXT broadcast partner, Vic Joseph, on a special bonus episode of WWE After The Bell, Wade Barrett compared Sheamus to Benjamin Button and even threw in a small hint that he may be considering a return to the squared circle.

“Well, Sheamus is like Benjamin Button. He's actually older than me and somehow he's still going as good as ever, if not better. So, hats off to him. I hit 35 and I started getting one foot out of the wrestling ring and into other things at that point, although maybe I'm not done for good, we'll see, but Sheamus, he goes as hard as ever and good for him. I'm glad he's done knocking about in the mix of the upper echelon of WWE.

Wade Barrett's last match was alongside Sheamus. The duo, then representing the League of Nations, wrestled The New Day on the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania 32 in 2016.

When pressed, Wade Barrett would say that he enjoys his time in the commentary booth for NXT but has always made sure to remain open to the idea of a comeback.

“I'm all about the big paydays, Mr. Joseph. It would not take much to remove me from the seat next to you and get back in the ring. I will say, I’m very much enjoying my job with NXT, but I have always made sure there is at least a little bit left in the tank.”

Wade Barrett was also asked about Drew McIntyre, whom he said he hoped to see win the WWE Championship from Bobby Lashley for the third time. Unfortunately for Drew, that did not happen as he lost the WWE championship match in the opening of the first night of WrestleMania.
