Wade Barrett Reveals He Was Supposed To Be Mr. Money In The Bank

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett revealed that at one point, he was supposed to become Mr. Money in the Bank.

In an interview with WhatCulture’s Adam Pacitti, Barrett revealed that he was slated to win the SmackDown Money in the Bank ladder match in 2011, which Daniel Bryan won instead. That Money in the Bank briefcase was for a World Heavyweight Championship match opportunity.

“I think that one was Money in the Bank 2011, the one Daniel Bryan won,” Barrett said. “That’s actually one of the rare matches that we rehearsed because there’s ladders involved and timing has to be perfect. We went into rehearsal the day before that and the rehearsal had me winning the match. Then about an hour we went live on the pay-per-view, we had a meeting and Vince had changed his mind and wanted Daniel Bryan up. Obviously, it was disappointing for me at the time, but Daniel Bryan did a great job with it, so fair play, but at one point, I was supposed to win it.”

Barrett’s contract with WWE ended in May 2016 and said that he was given a few offers for a contract extension, but rejected them. Barrett was also a former King of the Ring winner in WWE in 2015.

The full interview, where he also talks about his upcoming movie Vengeance and gave his thoughts on Vince McMahon and Triple H, can be seen in the video above. His Money in the Bank revelation is around the 10:30 mark of the video.
