Wade Barrett Would Come Out Of Retirement To Dethrone Drew McIntyre As WWE Champion

Wade Barrett would only want to get in the ring for one reason, to finally become WWE Champion.

Wade Barrett recently returned to NXT but not to in-ring competition, he returned as a broadcaster. The former leader of Nexus recently discussed any hopes to get back inside the squared circle with Digital Spy, admitting that if he does return to wrestling, he will be chasing the sunset of his career.

"In truth, if I was to come back as a full-time in-ring guy, I really would be chasing the sunset of my career. I don't think there's that many more years left in me,” Barrett admitted. “So the question is, what would I want to achieve?”

Wade would continue, revealing that his only goal, if he were to get back in the ring, would be becoming WWE Champion and he would like to take the title from the current incumbent champion, Drew McIntyre.

“The only thing I didn't achieve in WWE that I always wanted to achieve was to become the WWE Champion, and that title is now held by an old friend of mine, Drew McIntyre. So taking him on for that title is something that certainly might tempt me back for a match or two."

Wade Barrett had a handful of WWE Championship opportunities in 2010, but was never able to capture the gold from then-WWE Champion, Randy Orton.

Right now, Wade Barrett is enjoying his time behind the headset for NXT. You can hear him call the action alongside Vic Joseph and Beth Phoenix every Wednesday night beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern on USA Network.
