WALTER Discusses Hand Injury That Pushed Back Match Against Ilja Dragunov

WALTER and Ilja Dragunov were originally scheduled to meet on the July 22 episode of NXT UK, but the bout was pushed back due to a hand injury suffered by WALTER.

Speaking to Alistair McGeorge of Metro, WALTER discussed how the injury came about.

"It was just in training, I injured the hand – nothing particular, just basic movement. Bad luck, but it led us to a match at TakeOver now in Orlando so it all worked out," he said. "I had a little injury in my knee just before the one with the hand but those have been the only injuries that I’ve had in 15 years. I’m still pretty happy with my record, so I’m not complaining. [The match] was supposed to happen at BT Sport Studios. But then it had to be postponed because of the hand injury and they moved it to TakeOver which, at the end, was the best solution I think."

WALTER is now set to battle Dragunov for the NXT UK Championship at NXT TakeOver 36 on Sunday, August 22. WALTER previously defeated Dragunov on the October 29, 2020 episode of NXT UK.
