Wardlow Compares His Role In The Pinnacle To Batista's In Evolution, Calls It 'Terrifying And Exciting'

Wardlow takes a look at his career trajectory and Compares his path to that of WWE Hall of Fame-elect, Batista.

Wardlow has consistently been one of the young superstars that AEW has continued to build around since the moment he debuted alongside MJF in 2019. a superstar that obviously has a size advantage reminiscent of what used to be the typical professional wrestler, Wardlow says that he believes he is part of a movement that is spearheading the move back to larger-than-life wrestlers.

Speaking with former WCW announcer Mark Madden on his podcast, Wardlow revealed his excitement to see the "old style" making a comeback.

“What's old is new. I think with the help of myself and a few others that old school, you know 90s big dude's messing people up is exciting again and starting to pick up again,” said Wardlow.

When asked about his time with The Pinnacle, Wardlow reflected on his time as a fan of Evolution, drawing parallels between the two groups because of the inclusion of a former Four Horsemen member. Wardlow says that he grew up a big fan of Batista and to see the parallels between their careers is something that excites him and leaves him in awe.

“It's incredible. I was a fan of a different group of four individuals growing up. They also had a member of the Four Horsemen in it,” Wardlow said. “So to be in a group, with an original member of the Four Horsemen and to take on the Batista role of the group who I was a huge fan of. So the way my career is mimicking his is almost absolutely terrifying to me. Because my career's mimicking his in such a way, it's just mind-blowing. I was such a fan of his. So I'm excited to watch it continue to go in that direction.”

Tonight on AEW Dynamite, Wardlow will take on somebody that has a long history with Batista in Chris Jericho. Wardlow is the fourth “Labour of Jericho.” Should Chris Jericho win this match, he will have earned the right to face MJF at a later date.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning tonight at 8 p.m. eastern time.
