Wardlow once again talks about his dream match with Brock Lesnar and how he feels about WWE vs. AEW.
Wardlow is in the middle of becoming a major singles superstar in AEW. His powerful move-set and dominant stature have garnered him a lot of comparisons to Brock Lesnar.
As it pertains to how Wardlow feels about the overall comparisons between AEW and WWE, Wardlow tells NBC Sports Boston that he doesn't consider the two brands to be at war mainly because neither AEW television program goes head-to-head with a main roster WWE program, such as Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown.
"I try not to pay too much attention to what people are saying on Twitter. I have seen a little bit of that interaction. I can't speak for everyone else in the locker room. Myself, personally, I don't feel like we're necessarily in any type of war. Maybe if we were going head-to-head with Monday Night Raw or going head-to-head with SmackDown, maybe then. But realistically, I just feel like we're two completely different products, you know? One product does entertainment, one does professional wrestling. I just think it's almost hard to even compare the two. I truly feel like we are in our own league," said Wardlow.
Wardlow also says fans should realize that it is possible to like both programs without needing to show complete favoritism towards either.
"On that, people also need to understand you can like both. I like bananas and oranges,” he stated.
Speaking about dream matches, he once again reiterated his desire to face Brock Lesnar but also said that a majority of his dream matches come from within his own roster.
“I invite Brock Lesnar over to AEW any time he wants," Wardlow said. "That’s up there on the dream [match] list but, my dream [opponents] in AEW,, Kenny Omega is at the top, Andrade, [and] PAC, I think those are the top three. In my opinion, those are three of the best in the world and I live to be challenged. I like to be challenged, I love to challenge myself. I love to see what I can accomplish/what I can overcome. So, I’d like to step in the ring with those three to really test myself.”
Wardlow is currently in the middle of dealing with his contract being iced by Maxwell Jacob Friedman.
Next for Brock Lesnar, before he could accept any hypothetical interpromotional challenge, is a match to determine the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion against Roman Reigns during the second night of WWE WrestleMania 38 on Sunday, April 3.
