Wardlow Says MJF Making Contract Changes Weekly Annoys Him, Doesn't Rule Out A Match Against Him

Wardlow isn't ruling out a match against MJF.

Wardlow has been by the side of Maxwell Jacob Friedman since his arrival in AEW shortly after Maxwell turned on Cody Rhodes at Full Gear 2019. In the two-and-a-half years that they have been together, MJF and Wardlow have expanded their partnership by way of The Pinnacle faction but Wardlow remains contracted to Maxwell Jacob Friedman in AEW.

In recent months, Wardlow has continued to show frustration with the way that he is treated by MJF and as his popularity appears to grow with fans, many are wondering when the partnership between Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Wardlow will come to an end.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Wardlow did not rule out a match against MJF happening this calendar year and even spoke about some of the things that Maxwell Jacob Friedman does that get under his skin.

"So God, who knows, man. I mean, obviously, tensions have been high, and he loves adjusting my contract. He seems to make changes to it weekly, which is starting to get under my skin a little bit. But we've been together for two years, he pays me to watch his back. So, you know, that's technically my job. So I will continue to do so as long as I'm under contract to do so. Because that's my job. I do my job, and I do it well. But who knows what happens? I know that contract isn't forever. So who knows what will happen down the road."

For now, MJF remains heavily focused on his rivalry with CM Punk. CM Punk was able to defeat Wardlow, by the skin of his teeth, on January 12 and defeated Shawn Spears, with great ease, on January 19.
