Wardlow Says Working With CM Punk Has Been Surreal, Condemns MJF's Actions From 3/2 AEW Dynamite

They may be standing on opposite sides of the ring, but Wardlow is enjoying his time working with CM Punk.

Over the past couple of months, CM Punk has been feuding with Wardlow's on-screen boss, MJF. The two men are set to face off in a Dog Collar Match on March 6 at AEW Revolution. Despite being in Max's corner and helping him win his first encounter with Punk, tensions between Wardlow and MJF have been growing with every disrespectful comment and slap directed Mr. Mayhem's way.

During a recent appearance on Wrestling Inc. Daily with Nick Hausman, Wardlow commented on what it has been like working with CM Punk, saying that it's not something he ever thought would be possible.

"Working with CM Punk has truly been surreal. I’ve said it before, you know, you get in the business with your list of people you would love to work with and CM Punk just didn’t exist on that list because that wasn’t ever an option. That was done and over. No possibility of that happening. So for it to be real, it’s something you never thought you’d be able to do. So it’s very, very cool," he said.

On the March 2 episode of Dynamite, MJF tricked CM Punk into believing that he is actually a good person and then proceeded to beat him bloody. Along with Shawn Spears, they put a dog collar around his neck and hanged him over the ropes with a chain. Wardlow admitted that he was not a fan of those actions and has never been a fan of jumping someone.

"I’ve never been a believer on 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 or jumping someone. I’ve been jumped before. Most of the fights I’ve been in have never been 1 on 1 [laughs]. It’s always been a couple people. But I remember being at a bar and me and a guy got into it and a buddy of mine blindsided him and I threw my buddy on the ground and I said, ‘Don’t you ever hit somebody blindside. I don’t care if they’re trying to fight me, you don’t do that as a man. You fight people face to face.’ So the actions last night, not a fan of them," he said.
