Wes Lee successfully retains the NXT North American championship at WWE NXT Battleground and, in the process, sets a new record.
Wes Lee successfully defeated Joe Gacy and Tyler Bate in a triple threat match in Lowell, Massachusetts, to retain the WWE NXT North American championship. Lee pinned Gacy after a Cardiac Kick.

In the process, it was announced that he had become the most successful champion of all time, setting the record for successful defenses with ten overall.
Lee has been Champion since WWE NXT Halloween Havoc and has defended the title more times than anyone since then, with a reign of 218+ days.
