At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Claudio Castagnoli (formerly Cesaro in WWE) made his AEW debut as the newest member of the Blackpool Combat Club.
Castagnoli took the place of the injured Bryan Danielson against Zack Sabre Jr and will compete in Bryan's spot inside Blood & Guts on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite.
Speaking to Alistair McGeorge of Metro, BCC member Wheeler Yuta commented on Claudio's debut.
"I didn’t find out until everyone else did! When I was saying he would be a great fit [a few weeks ago], that was all just conjecture and me saying, 'Oh yeah that’d be cool!' To see him out there, it’s like, 'Wow! This is my new teammate!' It was really cool to see! I’m very excited to see what he’ll be able to do – in AEW in general, but also at Blood and Guts. I’m very excited for that as well," he said.
Yuta commented earlier in June that Cesaro would be a great fit in the BCC.
Speaking about the Blood & Guts match, Yuta said, "It’s definitely gonna be a challenge, knowing that this match – even just in AEW, has already produced incredible moments, not to mention the legacy of the match beforehand for years and years. It’s definitely a lot to live up to. It’s something different than I’ve ever done, so I’m really ready for the challenge. You can’t ignore the history, you have to known where it’s coming from so it’s definitely something to consider. At the same time, I wanna make sure this is something different."
Yuta will team with Jon Moxley, Claudio, Eddie Kingston, Santana, & Ortiz against Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Daniel Garcia, & Sammy Guevara in the Blood & Guts match.
