Will Ospreay Discusses Wrestling Girlfriend Bea Priestley, Her Refusing To Win

Before the coronavirus pandemic kept everyone inside and shut down just about every wrestling event, WrestleTalk Showcase presented No Fans Monday on March 16.

The event was headlined by Will Ospreay taking on his girlfriend Bea Priestley. The intergender bout went nearly 20 minutes and allowed both wrestlers to showcase their athleticism and talent while having fun wrestling each other.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Ospreay discussed the match and gave his thoughts on intergender wrestling.

"When people do intergender matches, they naturally assume 'oh, there's gonna be reverse ranas and stuff.' Bea doesn't do that when she faces girls anyway, so why would she do that against me? I don't mind intergender wrestling at all, in fact, I'm very much for it. But I like it with a story and a purpose and I don't like people changing what they would do if they wrestle a girl just because they're wrestling a guy," he said. "We fuck about all the time. Every now again, we'll just stare at each other and she'll say something mean and boop me in the face. I'll just chop her and we start brawling in the living room and putting each other in submissions. I was like, 'If you want to do this, just know that at one point, I've got to chop you.' She was fine with it."

Ospreay was victorious in the bout, which was a decision made by Bea.

"I said, 'I think you should go over' because it's a nice and happy ending. She outright refused to win because in a real fight situation, I would win. She's very much along the lines of keeping wrestling legitimate in some respect. She wants to keep it as real as possible. 'In a real situation, you would beat me.' I was like, 'You'd give me a run for my money. It only takes a submission and I'm out. But, if you're so willing to put me over, kid. Thank you very much,'" Ospreay joked.

Elsewhere during the interview, Ospreay discussed his decision to move up to heavyweight and how he had to evolve his style because of it. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
