Will Ospreay: Match With Ricochet Changed How People Wrestle

At NJPW Best of the Super Juniors in 2016, Will Ospreay and Ricochet competed in one of the most viral matches of all time.
Clips from that match circulated throughout social media and became the topic of discussion for days, weeks, months, and even years as the bout is still referenced and viewed as a turning point in wrestling.
On Talk is Jericho with Chris Jericho, Ospreay and Ricochet reflected on how they felt after the match, and the impact it had.
Ospreay: “It’s been ten years and I still get tagged in these clips. The moment that we finished that match, even though we came back and it was like, ‘Hey, good match. See you tomorrow.'”
Ricochet: “At that moment, we were just like, ‘We went out and had an awesome match.’ We didn’t know we changed the landscape of professional wrestling at the moment.”
Ospreay: “We’re forever tied to one another because of that. I look at people like Nick Wayne, Top Flight, the guys emulating that style that we popularized and made cool. It makes me think like, that match generally changed how people wrestle.”
The two men most recently wrestled in AEW in 2024. In total, they have competed in 11 singles matches against each other.
