Ospreay announced he was medically cleared from his neck injury and teased being in the G1 Tournament before saying he wouldn't compete. He then expressed his frustration at being stripped of the IWGP World Heavyweight Title after missing four months, noting Jon Moxley was allowed to keep the IWGP US Title despite not defending it for a year.

He said Shingo Takagi is a fake champion calling him the "Interim IWGP World Heavyweight Title" before pulling out his version of the IWGP World Heavyweight Title, calling himself the "Real IWGP World Heavyweight Champion." Ospreay said he was going to make his home at NJPW STRONG, running down the LA Dojo talent.

Karl Fredericks, Clark Connors, and TJP came out to confront Ospreay. Ospreay threw a bottle at them before running off.

Ospreay vacated the IWGP World Heavyweight Title on May 20 due to his neck injury. He last wrestled on May 4, defeating Shingo.
