Will Ospreay Says He Wants To Compete In Another G1 Climax Tournament

Will Ospreay returned to the New Japan Pro-Wrestling at NJPW Sakura Genesis, teaming with Great-O-Khan & HENARE to defeat El Desperado, Taichi & Yuya Uemura.

It was Ospreay’s first NJPW match since January 2024 when he left the compay and joined AEW full-time.

Speaking to Tokyo Sports, Will revealed that he is hoping to return to NJPW at some point to compete in another G1 Climax tournament.

“It’s hard to ask Tony (Khan, president) this year if I can take about six weeks off, but I’ve talked to my wife about it, and I do want to participate in the G1 Climax again someday. I’ve never won it, so I want to try again. Also, the fourth generation IWGP Heavyweight belt, which was revived this year, has been worn by Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, AJ Styles, Kenny Omega, and others, and I’ve always admired them. So I also want that belt,” he said.

Will Ospreay has competed in four G1 Climax tournaments, making the Semifinals in 2022 and 2023.
