Will Ospreay Says He’s Been Dealing With Neck Issues, Hopes To Be Back For AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

Will Ospreay will be taking some time off, revealing on AEW Dynamite that he’s been dealing with neck issues for ten months.

Ospreay said he kept his injuries a secret because he made promises to Swerve Strickland, Hangman Page, and the fans, and he wanted to “get AEW over the finish line” and get the AEW World Title back.

Ospreay said that he has two herniated discs in his C2 and C6 that are going into his spinal cord. He stated that with the right treatment, he hopes to be cleared for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, which takes place on August 25th.

Ospreay said that when he returns, he’ll be coming for the Death Riders because it’s “eye for an eye.”

The Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, & Gabe Kidd) took out Ospreay at AEW All In, wrapping a chair around his neck and stomping down on it. Ospreay interfered in the Texas Deathmatch between Hangman Page and Jon Moxley, doing his part in helping Hangman win the AEW World Title.

Ospreay teamed with Swerve to defeat The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) at All In. The Bucks lost their EVP title by virtue of losing the match.

Fightful Select posted the following update on Ospreay on July 17:

Ospreay had some big moments at AEW All In, but it might be a bit before we see more.

Ospreay and Swerve Strickland defeated the Young Bucks at AEW All In, eliminating the Bucks’ EVP status. However, Ospreay’s night wasn’t over. He joined the fray in the main event, before being taken out and stretchered out by the Death Riders. We’re told this was done for a reason.

We’re told that Ospreay has been working banged up, and is expected to take some time off. Those we spoke to believe that he will be out over a month, but an exact time table isn’t known.
