Will Ospreay Says He’s Having Some Trouble At AEW, Asks Callum Newman & United Empire For Help

Ospreay is looking for some backup.

At New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Sakura Genesis show, Will Ospreay made his in-ring return for the company. It was his first match for NJPW in Japan since February 2024. He teamed with United Empire’s Great-O-Khan and HENARE, and they scored a win in six-man tag team action.

Later in the main event, Ospreay accompanied Callum Newman to the ring for his IWGP Heavyweight Championship match against Yota Tsuji. During the bout, Newman was about to use a chair on Tsuji, but Ospreay stopped him from cheating to get the victory.

Newman proceeded to level Tsuji with Ospreay’s finisher, the ‘Hidden Blade’, and he went on to become the new and youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion in company history.

As United Empire was celebrating backstage, Ospreay stated that he had something to ask and was going back-and-forth about whether to ask during Newman’s big moment. He stated that he’s having some trouble at work, referring to dealing with the Death Riders in AEW. Ospreay asked Newman and United Empire for help.

Newman directed Ospreay to another room so they could talk. Jake Lee then entered the frame with confetti and changed the vibe of the room to a less serious mood.

On April 12th at AEW Dynasty, Ospreay will be challenging Jon Moxley for the AEW Continental Championship.
