Will Ospreay has never gotten the chance to wrestle the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto and would like the opportunity to change that.
Will Ospreay was a pillar performer for NJPW before leaving the company in 2024 to become a full-time AEW wrestler. Of all the classic matches he's participated in, he never got to wrestle Hirooki Goto one-on-one.
During a recent interview with Josh Martinez of Z100 on Superstar Crossover, Ospreay was asked about Japanese-based wrestlers he would like to compete against that he hasn't gotten the opportunity to. Goto was the only individual he named, and he mentioned the fact that AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is on the horizon, so perhaps that match is a possibility.
"Strangely, the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion right now, Goto. We never wrestled one another. Look, Forbidden Door's coming up. So, we can do it now."
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door will take place in London in 2025, thanks to the fact that AEW All In is being held Stateside for the first time ever.
Will Ospreay, who has already been the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, hopes to capture the AEW World Title at AEW All In: Texas. First, he needs to defeat Hangman Page at AEW Double or Nothing and win the Owen Hart Foundation Memorial Cup Tournament.
