It would be a dream match for Will Ospreay.
The current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay is preparing his body for the upcoming NJPW G1 Climax 29 tournament that kicks off this weekend in Dallas, Texas. Ospreay is the only Junior Heavyweight in the tournament and will have the opportunity to mix it up with Hiroshi Tanahashi, Lance Archer, SANADA, Okada and a bracket full of NJPW's top heavyweights. While being a junior in the tournament, Ospreay is also eyeing potential challengers to his title and this coming August, the Super J-Cup tournament is returning and will be held in the United States.
Will Ospreay proposed the idea of having NJPW bring in Amazing Red so that he can challenge for the Junior Title. While Ospreay guest appeared on E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness, he spoke about how Amazing Red innovated the high flying style of wrestling and does not realize how many talents he has influenced.
“Honestly, there’s one guy that I’m doing my absolute best to try and -- I think I have done it but it’s just when and where -- it’s Amazing Red. Like, this guy has innovated so many of our moves. If we could have royalties for wrestling moves, the guy would be a billionaire, and that’s the thing for me. I really want that match with him because -- I think this is another thing of me saying thank you again because he has done so much for our generation. I don’t think he realizes it." Ospreay shared. "I don’t think he realizes it at all. He’s done so much for our generation of guys. I would love to give him a match and more importantly, I would love to give him a match at the IWGP Junior Champion as well. Even if it was at one of those Super J-Cup shows. They’re doing them in America, there’s no reason why we can’t get him. I’d love to get him for that.”
