William Regal: WWE Has No Plans At This Time To Do Latin American Tournament

Despite a recent report, WWE won't be doing a tournament involving Latin American wrestlers, at least according to NXT GM William Regal.

Regal posted on Twitter that the company has no such plans of having a Latin American tournament at this moment. The tweet can be seen below.

Since the inception of the WWE Network, WWE has doubled down on wrestling tournaments now more than perhaps ever in the company's history. In the past few years, the tournament has done multiple Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments, the Mae Young Classic, the return of King of the Ring and even expanded with regional tournaments with the United Kingdom Championship tournament.

The rumored tournament would have likely taken place in August and involved wrestlers from various countries across Latin America such as Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and Peru and the tournament would have taken place in Chile. According to the report, Regal would have been producing the tournament but no “South America title” (much like the WWE United Kingdom title) or a full NXT contract for the winner was set or even talked about.

WWE has recently done house shows in Chile and a featured match between Rusev and Triple H, who rarely wrestles house shows up until the past couple of months.
