WPW Promoter Comments On Mercedes Moné Being A Part Of 10/19 Event: “It Just Took Us To A Whole New Level”

Another belt added to Moné’s résumé.
Over the course of a weekend, Mercedes Moné successfully defended her CMLL Women’s World Championship against Persephone at CMLL’s 10/17 show. The following day, Moné was in St. Louis, Missouri, for AEW WrestleDream and defeated Mina Shirakawa to become the new Interim ROH Women’s World Television Champion.
On 10/19, Mercedes was in action for Winnipeg Pro Wrestling and defeated Jody Threat to become the new Winnipeg Pro Wrestling Women’s Champion.
There’s a feature piece about the 10/19 event that was published by Jack Wannan of POST Wrestling. He spoke to WPW co-promoter Devin Bray. Bray spoke about the impact of Moné’s involvement with the show.
“Obviously, Mercedes has added a lot of prestige and excitement. We attracted, I’d say, a couple of hundred more people who didn’t know we existed who live here and are wrestling fans. So it just took us to a whole new level.”
When it comes to Moné being set for the show, Bray said he took a shot at the idea after Moné tweeted that she wanted to come to Canada.
“I saw she tweeted a couple of months ago, ‘I want to go to Canada’ or something. I was like, f***, if she’s saying that, I’ll just shoot my shot.”
Next up for Mercedes is that she’ll be challenging Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW Full Gear.
