Wrestling World Reacts To Comedian Tom Segura’s Ableist Rant About Professional Wrestling

If you've been a wrestling fan for any length of time, you are no stranger to those that don't like wrestling and don't understand the appeal of wrestling needing to bash those that do because of the predetermined nature of the show.

Comedians Tom Segura and Christina P recently ranted about professional wrestling on a podcast with Segura repeatedly using an ableist slur targeting the mentally disabled.

Tatum Paxley: I Came So Close To Winning NXT Women's Title, I'm Not Done

“I think wrestling is for fucking retards but so many people like it,” Segura said unabashedly. “It is the fucking stupidest shit and I think you're a fucking tool if you're like, 'hey man, it's not fake it's fucking fake and you're a fucking idiot. It's pathetic. It's pathetic. You're a pathetic person.”

As Christina tried to continue telling a story about how a date once “made” her attend a WWE event in Los Angeles and how she actually had fun at the event in spite of thinking that wrestling is lowbrow, Tom Segura continued to compare pro wrestling to the Special Olympics.

“[The Special Olympics are fun to go to also] but it's not real, it's not a real competition… that's how the ads for wrestling should be. It should be like WWE. This is for diminished capacity. That should be their tag for the fucking wrestling.”

These words raised the ire of many within the wrestling community including WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler who has, of course, worked with Special Olympic athletes through the WWE in the past.

Fightful will continue to report any and all updates to the story as they become available.
