Andrea Listenberger, Senior Narrative Designer at Visual Concepts, discusses MyRise mode in WWE 2K23.
MyRise mode in modern WWE games is the evolution of career modes stemming back to the days of the PlayStation 1 and Nintendo 64. Always a popular mode with players, this year's MyRise creates two unique storylines allowing players to take control of a custom WWE Superstar, man or woman, and bring them to the top of the mountain in WWE.
Andrea Listenberger, one of the developers on this year's MyRise mode, recently spoke with Bashworld and detailed some of the unique features in this year's game mode, saying that players are going to want to play through each storyline more than once because the choices that you make can impact how the story plays out.
"I mean, I would even say that some players are going to want to play it through once and then go and play the story mode again because you can access different things, different elements based on some of the choices you make. I'm going to leave it at that because I don't want to spoil it," said Andrea.
Also, Andrea revealed that the writers of this year's story mode have experience working with WWE and, therefore, fans can expect true-to-life storytelling.
"All of the writers for MyRise worked at WWE, and as you know, WWE may be famous for having swerves, surprises, twists, and turns; and we follow the product. We write to the product. So when you play MyRise, you're going to have swerves, twists, and turns. You might be able to create a few of your own as your character. "
