WWE Abandons ‘Vice City’ Trademark

WWE have abandoned their attempts to trademark ‘Vice City’ for the main roster debut of Lola Vice as of earlier this month.

In recent weeks, Lola Vice has debuted on the WWE main roster and has qualified for the women’s Money In The Bank ladder match, before signing her WWE RAW contract and getting into a heated confrontation with Roxanne Perez on Monday’s edition of RAW. Prior to her debut, Vice would have a string of vignette’s highlighting her connection to Miami, and last month, the company would attempt to file a trademark for ‘Vice City’. However, that filing has now seemingly not been approved.

As of September 21st, the trademark filing for Vice City by WWE is now listed as ‘abandoned’ following an express abandonment filed to the US Patent and Trademark Office on September 2nd. Upon the original filing, fans would question if the filing would be approved due to ‘Vice City’ being associated with the Grand Theft Auto gaming franchise, but it is unclear if this proved to be a roadblock.

“The owner of the trademark application withdrew (e.g. abandoned) the application and the application is no longer active.”
