WWE Cutting Back On Live Events, Doing More Supershows

WWE is switching up its live event schedule heading into February.

Previously, the company would more often than not have Raw and SmackDown each run three live events on most weeks, with exceptions being made for pay-per-view weekends. But with live events losing money last quarter and attendance declining, the decision has been made to change the schedule.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer first pointed out that WWE will be doing more Supershow live events beginning in February. Here's what the live event schedule looks like for February and March:

* Feb. 8 - Supershow in Oakland, CA
* Feb. 9 - Supershow in Fresno, CA
* Feb. 15 - Supershow in Eugene, OR
* Feb. 16 - Supershow in Kennewick, WA
* Feb. 23 - Raw Live Event in Brandon, MB
* Feb. 29 - SmackDown Live Event in Elmira, NY
* Feb. 29 - Raw Live Event in State College, PA
* Mar. 1 - SmackDown Live Event in Syracuse, NY
* Mar. 1 - Raw Live Event in Salisbury, MD
* Mar. 7 - Supershow in Allentown, PA
* Mar. 14 - Supershow in Toronto, ON
* Mar. 15 - Supershow in Youngstown, OH
* Mar. 19 - SmackDown Live Event in Mobile, AL
* Mar. 21 - SmackDown Live Event in Alexandria, LA
* Mar. 21 - Raw Live Event in Springfield, MA
* Mar. 22 - Raw Live Event in New York, NY
* Mar. 22 - SmackDown Live Event in Bosser City, LA
* Mar. 28 - Raw Live Event in Tupelo, MS
* Mar. 28 - SmackDown Live Event in Milwaukee, WI
* Mar. 29 - Raw Live Event in Montgomery, AL
* Mar. 29 - SmackDown Live Event in Moline, IL

The schedule does pick up again at the end of March, but it's still at two live events per weekend as opposed to three. The live event schedule past March is limited to two events in mid-April before WWE embarks on an international tour at the end of April.

The NXT live event schedule remains largely unchanged with the brand running it's weekend Florida loop along with traveling events every other weekend.

Meltzer reports that the new schedule will affect the income of the non-main event talent as they are working fewer dates and that many were unhappy as to how this went down.
