After a tumultuous 2019, Luke Harper has been granted his release by WWE.
Luke Harper, who came into the WWE main roster as part of the Wyatt Family, has been released by WWE as of December 8, 2019. Throughout his time with the company, he was an Intercontinental Champion as well as a multiple-time Tag Team Champion alongside Erick Rowan.
Harper had many ups and downs in the WWE. His Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match against Dolph Ziggler at TLC in 2014 for the Intercontinental Championship was widely praised, and his time in the Wyatt Family allowed him to work with legends such as The Undertaker, The Rock, and John Cena.
Over time, however, Luke Harper would also see long stretches in his career where he would not be utilized in a featured role. Earlier this year, it was made public on social media that Harper had requested his release from WWE.
At the time, that release would be denied and Harper would return at the 2019 Clash Of Champions event and assist his longtime partner, Erick Rowan, in defeating Roman Reigns.
This return led to a brief rivalry with Roman and Daniel Bryan where Harper would be featured on Smackdown television in the months of September and October, but after the rivalry, he would be drafted to SmackDown and rarely used.
Harper was also one of the superstars to voice his opinion about the frustration behind the travel issues surrounding the trip over to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Recently, it was reported that Jonathan Huber, Harper?s real name, applied to trademark his old independent wrestling name, Brodie Lee.
