Dolph Ziggler, Miz and WWE may have poked fun at CM Punk.
During Sunday Night's WWE Backlash show, the Intercontinental Championship match featuring Miz defending against Dolph Ziggler started in familiar fashion. Miz rushed Ziggler, only to be taken down with ease. Ziggler then took Miz's back, while the champion scampered to the ropes.
This was quite similar to how CM Punk's UFC debut played out Saturday night at UFC 203. Punk charged in on opponent Mickey Gall and was promptly put on his backside before being submitted only a few minutes later. Punk landed virtually no offense, outside of a few defensive punches from the bottom position.
This wouldn't be the first time WWE has parodied UFC. CM Punk himself was involved following UFC 148 in July 2012, when he and Daniel Bryan re-enacted the finish to the Anderson Silva vs.Chael Sonnen fight, that saw Sonnen miss a spinning back fist, only to get kneed in the chest.
Miz would go on to retain his title against Ziggler. You can check out a video of Ziggler and Miz's spot below, and highlights from Punk's fight above.
