The WWE Universal Championship has been retired.
The Universal Championship debuted in 2016 following the companies refreshed brand split after Dean Ambrose would take the WWE Championship with him to Monday Night RAW. Finn Balor would become the first ever champion, defeating Seth Rollins at SummerSlam that year. Since then, the championship has been held by several superstars, including Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar and most notably, Roman Reigns.
Now, WWE have now appeared to retire the championship after the physical championship was taken off of television last year. WWE.com's title page for the championship now reads as 'retired'.

Cody Rhodes would end Roman's over 1300+ day reign as the Universal Champion at WrestleMania 40 last year, but has not been recognized as a Universal Champion on WWE.com.
New WWE champion John Cena appeared on Monday's edition of WWE RAW, and met an old friend. You can read more about that here.
