WWE Release Akam And Rezar Of AOP

WWE has officially come to terms on the release of both Akam and Rezar of AOP.

Making their debuts on the NXT roster in 2016 alongside Paul Ellering, Akam and Rezar, then known as The Authors of Pain, had a memorable run on WWE's black and gold brand. In their time on NXT, they would win the NXT Tag Team Championship, compete in the first-ever NXT WarGames match, and compete in the only Tag Team Championship match to headline an NXT TakeOver, when they defeated Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: Chicago in 2017.

After moving over to WWE Raw in 2018, the duo quickly had pieces of their presentation shuffled around. No longer would they be with Paul Ellering and they would change their name to AOP. later in the year, they would be paired with Drake Maverick as their manager. It was a short-lasting gimmick that would see the duo capture the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship and also see Maverick soil himself during a Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Most recently, they were paired with Seth Rollins as part of the Greater Good faction but an injury to Rezar derailed all of their momentum and WWE has announced that the tag team has been cut from the promotion.
