WWE Royal Rumble 2023 Breaks Record For Largest Gate In Event History

The 2023 WWE Royal Rumble has already broken a Royal Rumble record two months before the event even takes place.

The upcoming WWE Royal Rumble event, which will be held in the AlamoDome of San Antonio, Texas, has broken the company's record for the largest gate in the 36-year history of the Royal Rumble event. Previously, the record was set in 2017 that year, WWE announced that 52,020 fans jam-packed the AlamoDome that year. Tickets for next year's Royal Rumble event went on sale recently and have surpassed the $5 million mark.

WWE issued an announcement on the record-breaking attendance gate:

WWE Royal Rumble 2023 - slated for Saturday, January 28 - has broken the company’s record for the largest gate in the event’s 36-year history.

Over the weekend, Royal Rumble surpassed the $5M mark and previous record holder from 2017 - the last time the event was held at San Antonio’s AlamoDome.

This carries a 2022 trend into 2023 where WWE set gate records for many of its events, including WrestleMania, Extreme Rules and Crown Jewel.

The 2023 Royal Rumble event will be the first Royal Rumble without Vince McMahon as the head of WWE. McMahon retired in the summer of 2022 and currently, Triple H is overseeing creative as the Chief Content Officer of WWE.

Thus far, no matches have been announced for the event. We will continue to monitor and report any updates concerning the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble here on Fightful.
