WWE United States Championship Match Called Off Due To Injury; Jeff Hardy Will Issue An Open Challenge Tonight

The anticipated bout has be called off.

This past Sunday it was announced by SmackDown Live GM Paige that Jeff Hardy would be defending his WWE United States Championship on tonight's edition SmackDown Live against the man who gave Jeff a low-blow at the conclusion of their match during the 'Money In The Bank' go-home show of SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura.

Nakamura and Hardy have exchanged their words and were set to do battle during tonight's show in Ontario, CA. It was just announced by way of WWE backstage interviewer Dasha Fuentes that due to an injury that Shinsuke Nakamura suffered last night "The King Of Strong Style" has not been cleared to compete on tonight's show.

As noted in the embedded tweet, instead of the match between Shinsuke and Jeff Hardy "The Charismatic Enigma" will be issuing an open challenge to anyone in the back who is looking to take the WWE United States Championship out of his grasps.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline is reporting that Nakamura was bit in the leg by a police dog at the 'Rabobank Arena' in Bakersfield yesterday at a SmackDown house show which is why he will not be competing on tonight's show.

Following tonight's edition of SmackDown Live, head over to the "podcasts" section of the site where our crew will be reviewing tonight's action on the blue-brand exclusive show.
