WWE Universal Championship Match Set For Fastlane 2021

The Universal Championship will be defended at WWE Fastlane.

On the March 5 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Daniel Bryan defeated Jey Uso in a Steel Cage match by making him tap out to the Yes-Lock. As a result, Bryan earned another shot at Roman Reigns' title at Fastlane.

Bryan lost his last Universal Championship opportunity, facing Reigns immediately after he had won a grueling Elimination Chamber match. He admitted tonight that he is more ambitious than he thought and is done putting himself on the back-burner. Bryan also noted that he has worked more in the last three weeks than Edge and Roman combined this year, a fact that doesn't sit well with him.

As a result of the victory, the initial Fastlane plan of Edge and Daniel Bryan versus Roman Reigns and Jey Uso has been scrapped. It also means that, for the time being, Bryan does not have to acknowledge Reigns as his Tribal Chief and the best wrestler in the world.

The winner at Fastlane will go on to face Edge at WrestleMania.

Fightful will have live coverage of Fastlane on Sunday, March 21, 2021.
