WWE Unreal Director Chris Weaver Hopes Series Gets Season 2: ‘It’s Been An Absolute Blast’
Chris Weaver, the director of WWE Unreal on Netflix, comments on the possibility of a second season for the series.
The WWE Unreal series on Netflix offers a unique glimpse into WWE’s creative process, surpassing that of any previous series. Covering the events leading up to WWE WrestleMania 41, the series follows the journeys of John Cena, CM Punk, Jey Uso, Rhea Ripley, and others in a way rarely seen before. WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, remains a central focus throughout. However, with only one season released, the question is whether this deep dive into WWE’s process will continue.
In an interview with Fightful’s Joel Pearl and Jeremy Lambert, series director Chris Weaver expressed hope that the series will be renewed, noting that Netflix is good at assessing audience reactions and feedback.
“We, me, NFL Films, we hope to keep going. Netflix does a really good job of evaluating reaction and feedback. They see that quickly and determine how they way to pursue. My hope is it’ll keep going. I hope it goes for a long time. It’s been a great change of pace for me. I love doing football, but this has been an absolute blast. I hope it keeps going and I hope there’s more for the wrestling world to tune into and talk about.”
The entire series is now available to binge on Netflix. However, if you’re eager to explore the stories from the series, you can click here.
