Xavier Woods Had Never Heard Of The Term "X-Pac Heat," Big E Doesn't Want X-Pac To Go Away

Fans have likely heard of the term "go away heat" in wrestling. It's when a performer elicits a reaction that makes fans change the channel rather than get behind the babyface or want to see the heel get beat up. Over the years, "go away heat" became "X-Pac heat," a reference to Sean Waltman and his character in the 2000s.

On the latest New Day: Feel The Power podcast, Big E and Xavier Woods were discussing the term "go away heat" when it came to light that Woods had never heard of the alternate term.

"'Go away heat,' to me, is heat that makes people not want to watch you. 'I'll skip this segment, because it sucks.' As opposed to, 'I want to see that bad guy get beat up.' That's good heat. Poor Sean Waltman. People used to call it 'X-Pac heat.' I don't want him to go away. If you see Sean Waltman, I want him to stay," said Big E.

Xavier replied, "I've never heard that term."

Xavier's comment stunned Big E, who needed double and triple confirmation from Xavier that he has never truly heard of the term "X-Pac heat." Woods offered multiple confirmations.

The term was brought up in reference to New Day's early run, when they were discussing if they ever had "go away heat." They didn't believe so, but Xavier did note that one fan really seemed to dislike the group.

"There's this guy in Atlanta and the first time we were New Day [in Atlanta], he was just being a vocal fan. I didn't think anything of it, he was just booing. But then he started cursing, loudly. And there's like kids. But, more importantly, my mom was two seats away from him. So, I popped off to the point where I almost jumped out of the ring and E had to stop me," recalled Xavier.

Elsewhere on the podcast, New Day discussed Vince McMahon believing the "preaching positivity" gimmick would work as babyfaces. You can read their full comments by clicking here.
