Xyon Quinn On His Heel Turn: The Shackles Are Off, I'm Having More Fun

Xyon Quinn is having fun being the bad guy.

Quinn made his NXT debut last August, and he was featured as a babyface for several months. The former rugby player turned heel earlier this year, and he recently started feuding with Apollo Crews.

Speaking with The Sporting News, Quinn discussed the change to his character and described how the shackles have come off since he turned to the dark side.

“It was something that naturally occurred...it’s always very hard to show lots of personality when you start as a baby. You’re a lot more restricted when you’re a baby, so when the shackles are off, you have a bit more fun. I think that’s what he is starting to experience at the moment. He’s finding a rhythm and things are going in the right way for him," said Quinn.

He went on to describe how the transition has been fairly smooth as he has enjoyed being more free. He noted that, in showing more aggression, he has been able to be himself.

“It was a pretty smooth transition. I think coming into the ring, already being the bigger person usually in the match, people tend to look at you in that light already – you should be the bad person. I kind of took advantage of that and took the shackles off and I got to be a bit more free and a bit more me. I think showing aggression is one of my strong points, but also doing it with a bit of cheek and making Xyon Quinn the person who is basically 'The Terminator'," he said.

Quinn will face Crews on the July 26 episode of NXT 2.0. You can check out the announced card here.
