YOH Defending IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title Against Robbie X At 10/7 NJPW Show

YOH and Robbie X’s title match is locked in.

After YOH defeated Taiji Ishimori to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Battle Line Hokkaido, he nominated his next challenger, Robbie X.

A title match between the two is now set for the Road to King of Pro-Wrestling show on October 7th. Below is NJPW’s write-up:

“The Battle Line Hokkaido tour wrapped up in Sapporo September 23 with a stunning IWGP Junior Heavyweight title fight, YOH hanging on to the junior gold despite Taiji Ishimori’s best efforts to record his second defence with the junior title he won back at Dominion in June. YOH didn’t want to wait to put the title on the line again, and ended the night by throwing out an open challenge for the junior gold, one that was swiftly answered by Robbie X!

Since making his NJPW entrance in 2024, Robbie X has made a spectacular rise to prominence, earning the adulation of the NJPW faithful with his high-flying offense, and claiming junior heavyweight tag team gold earlier this year in the process. Now the Briton is making his first challenge for singles gold in New Japan, and in a first-time-ever singles matchup with YOH. The match is now set to happen October 7 in Korakuen Hall. With the IWGP Tag Team Championships headlining the prior night on October 6 with KOB challenging HENARE and Great-O-KHan, this freshly added matchup now makes for a doubleheader of fantastic championship action on the Road to King of Pro-Wrestling!”
