Yota Tsuji discusses the possibility of bringing back the old IWGP Heavyweight Championship design at Wrestle Kingdom 20 next month.
At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 at the beginning of next month, Yota Tsuji and Konosuke Takeshita will rematch for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, a title that Takeshita captured from Tsuji earlier this year after Takeshita won the G1 Climax tournament. Now, Tsuji has discussed the possibility of binging back the old championship design that was retired in 2021.
While speaking to NJPW in a new interview, Yota Tsuji discussed the possibility of bringing back the old IWGP Heavyweight Championship design should he defeat Takeshita at Wrestle Kingdom 20.
“Would the company bring it to the Dome? Once I win, I have to convince the company as well. From a company perspective it would take an admission that it was a mistake to get rid of it in the first place. I think that would be a sign of strength and courage. Nobody is perfect; life is about stumbling and picking ourselves up. So we’ll see. But if the belt is there then I’ll lift it right then and there.”
