Yota has been no stranger to talking down on the AEW x NJPW relationship for not only the Forbidden Door events, but also throughout the year as of late. For Tsuji, he feels that the companies are not on the same level in terms of their working relationship, and has been not shy about expressing those feelings in in-character interviews. Now, he has given AEW’s owner, Tony Khan, props.
While speaking to Tokyo Sports in a new interview, Yota Tsuji spoke about Tony Khan, noting that he likes him and that NJPW can ‘learn from AEW’ in their new system.
“I like Tony Khan (the president of AEW). I only appeared in the FD once (at the 2024 tournament), but even though it was the zero hour (match 0), he came up to the wrestlers and said, ‘I’m a fan of yours. Thanks for coming.’ I think there are at least some things we can learn from AEW in our new system.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Yota would speak about potentially boycotting AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door to protect the IWGP World Championship. You can read more about that here.
