The Young Bucks Capture The IWGP Tag Team Championships

Heavyweight Matt and Nick.

Back in February on night two of NJPW's 'Honor Rising' show former seven-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks took the next step to solidify themselves as one of the best tag teams in the world as they declared themselves heavyweights in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Matt and Nick Jackson were not successful in their first official heavyweight tag team bout at 'Strong Style Evolved' in March but the duo had their sights set on bigger goals which were the IWGP Tag Team Championships that were held by the tranquilo tandem of EVIL and SANADA. The 'Los Ingobernables de Japon' members have been running rough shot over the NJPW tag team division dating back to their winning of the 'World Tag League' tournament. EVIL and SANADA went on to secure the IWGP Tag Team Titles and last month during night one of 'Wrestling Dontaku' The Young Bucks dropped their names in the hat of challengers to EVIL and SANADA's titles.

The two teams met during today's NJPW 'Dominion' event and in what was a battle of styles with the power-house/athletic duo of EVIL and SANADA versus the quick and athletic Matt and Nick Jackson. During the match Nick Jackson "injured" his foot attempting to hit his signature kick on the outside but ended up connecting to the ring post. Nick Jackson's foot played a major role in the match as the "Superkick" for him appeared to be something that was no longer in the Bucks' playbook. Towards the end of the contest The Young Bucks gathered themselves despite their injuries and both men connected with a pair of "superkicks" to SANADA. Matt and Nick then climbed to the top rope and executed their "More Bang For Your Buck" finishing maneuver for the win and now The Young Bucks are 2/3rd's of the current NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions and the current IWGP Tag Team Champions.
