On the November 18 episode of AEW Dynamite, Top Flight took on The Young Bucks in a match that showcased the young team of Darius and Dante Martin.
Though the Bucks were victorious in the bout, Top Flight was officially signed to contracts on November 23.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Matt & Nick Jackson discussed telling Top Flight they would be signed and their reaction.
"When we told Top Flight, 'you can quit your day jobs, you're signing here full-time.' Seeing their eyes light up, those are the moments that make me feel this is worth it. I don't care how hard this is, seeing things like that is so fulfilling. It's almost even better than winning the championships," said Nick.
Matt added, "We were like, 'we're offering you a deal,' and I don't think they understood what we were saying. 'This means you're going to make a lot of money and you're going to have a guaranteed salary.' Darius is like, 'I work at a grocery store.' 'Not anymore you don't buddy.' Dante was working at a gym and we told him, tell them you no longer need to work there. 'You guys are set now.' All it took was them having the courage to reach out and send me a direct message on Instagram. I gravitated towards this message. Within 30 seconds, I was blown away. I told Christopher Daniels, 'book these kids for Dark and let's get a closer look at them.' We had everyone at the monitor that night and we were blown away. I told Tony immediately, 'I want to work with them.'"
Top Flight was back in action this past Wednesday on Dynamite, taking on The Hybrid2 (Angelico & Jack Evans). Unfortunately for the duo, they were once again on the wrong side of the decision.
Elsewhere during the interview, the Young Bucks revealed the advice they got from NXT congratulating them on the first-week ratings victory. You can find their full comments by clicking here.
