The Young Bucks Say They Once Burned Their Toy Ring Set Replicating An Inferno Match

The Young Bucks’ love of pro wrestling was present even as kids, though that love may have gotten too heated at times.

The duo said they would make imaginary wrestling cards with their action figures throughout their childhood, even having a toy ring for their action figures to “wrestle” in. One time, they had the idea to have an Inferno match with their own made-up cards.

During their panel at Starrcast IV, both Nick and Matt Jackson explained how they tried to make the match happen. Matt said they lit the ring on fire and their mom was distraught smelling the smoke and finding out what was the cause of it.

“We would set up the ring and build cards with the wrestlers. This would be the main event, it was always Hulk Hogan vs. someone,” Nick said.

“We built custom sets for those shows,” Matt said. “I remember my mom one time smelled smoke and she ran into the room and said, ‘There’s something burning!’ Nick and I were having the first-ever inferno match with our toys. We set the ring on fire and my mom was like, ‘What are you doing!?’”

The duo's pro wrestling fandom led to becoming pro wrestlers themselves, traveling all over the world and eventually becoming two of the cornerstones for the creation of All Elite Wrestling.
