Yuya Uemura Says It Will Be A While Before He And Shota Umino Team Again, ‘It’s Time To Take A Break’

Yuya Uemura and Shota Umino established themselves as one of the top tag teams in New Japan Pro-Wrestling through World Tag League 2025.
They challenged the Knockout Brothers (Yuto-Ice & OSKAR) for the IWGP Tag Team Titles at NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka, but ultimately came up short.
With the New Japan Cup on the horizon, Uemura says he and Shota will split for the time being.
“I think it’ll be a little while before we team again. We both threw ourselves into the team thing for the last six months but we didn’t get any big results, didn’t win World Tag League and didn’t win the titles. So it’s time to take a break and for us both to focus on singles for a while. I don’t know when the next time will be, but if the time is right, then we’ll do it,” he told NJPW.
Yuya will face Great-O-Khan in the first round of the New Japan Cup. Fans can check out the full bracket here.
