Zack Ryder Injury Update: Getting Knee Surgery Today

As reported here on Fightful, Zack Ryder injured his knee at the end of the #1 Contendership Tag Team Battle Royal on this past Tuesday's episode of Smackdown Live. Ryder won the Battle Royal for his team, making the Hype Bros next in line to face the New Wyatt Family.

Early indications were that his kneecap may have slipped out of place, then back in again. He was helped to the back and tended to by the training staff, and WWE announced that he would be going in for an MRI on Wednesday. WWE posted video of him been treated in the training room to their YouTube; you can watch it at the top of this page.

The results of that MRI were not revealed, but Ryder tweeted the following this morning, indicating that he is having knee surgery in Alabama today.

The famous Andrews Clinic is located in Birmingham, which is where Finn Balor had his shoulder surgery back in August, and where Seth Rollins had his knee surgery last November.

A new #1 contender team will almost certainly have to be named for the Wyatts' belts, and if Ryder has to miss significant time, it means that Mojo Rawley might have to become a singles wrestler for a while.

So get ready for that.

Get hyped for it, even.

We will bring you updates as more develops on the Ryder injury story.
