The submission specialist feels that the U.K. wrestling scene is thriving.
Zack Sabre Jr. is coming down from the clouds as he recently stood victorious in the 2018 New Japan Cup and main-evented NJPW's 'Sakura Genesis' event against Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Sabre Jr. also went to distance in PROGRESS Wrestling's 'Super Strong Style 16' tournament and earned himself a shot at the PROGRESS World Championship at a future show and he announced shortly after his victory that he will be cashing in his opportunity at the biggest independent wrestling event in the U.K. in nearly 30 years at the 'Wembley Arena' on September 30th.
While speaking with the Daily Star Online the SPLX-sponsored athlete shared that he feels that the U.K. wrestling scene is on fire and is currently at a point it has not reached in years.
?I think there's no doubt that the UK hasn't been this strong since the eighties. There's more depth to the talent in the British wrestling scene than there has been in decades. I think a big factor to that is the environment in which young wrestlers can develop and the way in which the more experienced wrestlers genuinely try to nurture and help newer talent grow." He added, "The majority of us involved in the British scene are really trying to work together to grow something.?
The 'Suzuki Gun' member stated that although the wrestling scene in the United Kingdom is hot there is no room to become complacent as there is only one direction to go from here.
?The image and and perception [of British wrestling] is at the highest it's been for decades but we can't get complacent and feel like this is the pinnacle. Our has goal has to be continue to grow on an upward trajectory and continue to create and nurture talent and companies so that we don't step backwards. [It] has really driven what should have been apparent about pro wrestling from the beginning. Pro-wrestling is cool, daft, wonderful, fun and appeals to absolutely everyone so [it] has no right to ostracize or alienate any member of the audience.?
