Zayda Steel Looks Back On Marigold Run, Credits TNA’s Myla Grace For Helping Her During Tough Financial Times

Zayda Steel sends love to Myla Grace for her support.

Zayda Steel and Myla Grace were a part of the original batch of foreigners that Rossy Ogawa brought to Dream Star Fighting Marigold when the promotion launched in 2024.

Steel looked back on that experience while on AEW Unrestricted. She shared that there was a period when she was hurt and was not being paid because she could not work. She credits current TNA talent Myla Grace for helping her during that time.

“Very eye-opening. Before that, I took wrestling as just, ‘Hey, I’m just happy to be here. Any booking I could get, I just wanna wrestle, wrestle, wrestle’ and it wasn’t until I went to Japan… You get it beat into you of, this is a business so, when my body can’t do this anymore, I’m screwed so, treating it like a business, taking care of yourself as well as just learning and growing and seeing there’s actually other avenues of wrestling besides the in-ring stuff. During the press conference, that was my first time ever doing a press conference and I learned a lot just from the one I did so I’m excited to do more so, it was a lot on 21-year-old — well, I found out when I was 20 so, I had four months to just stress about it. I can’t say enough good things. I love Japan. I wanna go back. Hopefully, maybe with STARDOM or any other company. I think every young woman should at least do a tour of Japan, if obviously it’s in their cards and they financially can.

When I was in Japan, I was struggling. I just wanna give a shout out to Myla Grace who would feed me some days because… again, if you’re not wrestling, you’re not making money and there’s two weeks where I was legit hurt and just couldn’t make money and she took care of me and I would call my mom and she would be like, ‘Hey, I wish I could help you. Here’s like 15 bucks for food but, we can’t even make mortgage.’ So I used to tell her, ‘Hey, you let me wrestle. I’m not asking for anything. If anything, I’m gonna give back to you just for all the years that you sacrificed for me’ and now that I’m in AEW, I get to do that and wrestle, so I don’t even feel like I’m working.”

Steel is signed to All Elite Wrestling. She received her official graphic in January 2026.
